McDonnell Sued for Alleged Retaliation by Former Assistant Sheriff Todd Rogers

Former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Assistant Sheriff Todd Rogers recently sued the county alleging that Sheriff Jim McDonnell retaliated against him for not getting out of the sheriff’s race in 2014 and alleges that McDonnell subsequently forced Rogers out of the department, the Long Beach Press-Telegram recently reported.

“McDonnell attempted to institute a policy to deny [Rogers’] First Amendment right to serve as a [Lakewood city] council member, failed to promote plaintiff to undersheriff, retaliated against plaintiff’s family and forced plaintiff to retire,” the lawsuit alleges.
