Witness LA, a prominent website focused on the criminal justice system in Southern California, has posted an extensive interview with candidate for Sheriff Bob Lindsey.
The blog, and its editor Celeste Fremon, played a major role in the toppling of former Sheriff Lee Baca and Undersheriff Paul Tanaka 4-5 years ago through its extensive reporting on LASD’s corruption and mismanagement. After interviewing candidate Alex Villanueva last year, she has now apparently spent quite a lot of time interviewing Mr. Lindsey.
The focus of the interview is on what Sheriff McDonnell said he would do four years ago and how little has, in fact, gotten done. His track record is poor, his understanding of LASD is weak, and his political support is shallow. We need a change.
“I know the conventional wisdom is that you can’t beat an incumbent,” Lindsey told Fremon. “My view is this: Jim McDonnell not an incumbent. He’s still a visitor.”
